Overview
Hootpocket ("the app", "we", "us") is a link and bookmark
organizer published by the developer of record for Hootpocket
(package
com.easyconnect.hootpocket). The short version: we don't sell data, we don't run ad
networks, and the only data that leaves your device is what you
explicitly choose to sync or share.
What we collect
What's collected depends entirely on how you use the app — nothing here is collected unless the matching feature is used.
- check Account info — email and encrypted password, only if you sign up for cloud sync.
- check Collection data — titles, tags, notes, source links, and dates for items you add.
- check Photos — images you attach to a saved item, only when you choose one.
- check Link previews — title, image, and description pulled from a URL you paste in.
We don't collect precise location, contacts, browsing history, analytics, or crash data — no such SDKs are bundled in the app. An account is never required just to use Hootpocket.
Device permissions
Hootpocket only asks for what each feature needs, and each is optional until you use that feature.
- wifi Internet — to fetch link previews, sync your collection, and share content.
- save Storage — to read and write your local database and cached images.
How we use it
Collection data and photos are read from and written to a local database so the app works offline. If you sign in, your collection syncs to your account so it's available across devices and backed up. When you paste a link, Hootpocket fetches that page directly from your device to pull in a preview. We never use your data for advertising or automated profiling.
Storage & security
By default, your entire collection lives in a local database private to the app and never leaves your device unless you enable sync or use share/export. If you create an account, your collection syncs to our managed backend over an encrypted connection — your password is hashed, never stored in plain text, and your cloud data is scoped to your account only.
Your choices

- check_circle Edit or delete any item, photo, or tag anytime — deletions sync if you're signed in.
- check_circle Request full account deletion from Settings to remove your cloud data and credentials.
